Michael Lange OD, CNS discusses the power of astaxanthin for dry tired eyes and macular degeneration. Genotype directed nutritional supplementation is here!
Astaxanthin is a nutrient that is starting to gain popularity due to its amazing health benefits. I have been utilizing the health benefits of astaxanthin in clinical practice for over four years now with some incredible success. I have found that almost everyone that is started on Fortifeye Focus ( 6 mg of astaxanthin, 6 mg of lutein and 400 mcg of zeaxanthin) reports some sort of subjective improvement. Many of my patients will report improved focusing ability at near and reduction in eye fatigue and eye strain. many of my patients under 55 yo that were emetropic in the distance are now able to read up close or on the computer with out a spectacle correction. Many studies have proven that astaxanthin will improve accommodative ability in the eye. I…

Michael Lange OD develops DNA directed eye vitamins for Macular Degeneration
Posted by Dr Michael Lange in Uncategorized on October 11, 2013
Michael Lange OD, talk show host, optometrist and nutrition specialist developes DNA directed nutritional supplements for macular degeneration. Michael Lange OD, CNS has combined all of the latest research into the new line of genotype directed nutritional supplements for macular degeneration by Fortifeye Vitamins. The newest formula is called Zinc Free Macular Defense. The latest research indicates a relatively high percentage of patients with DNA for macular degeneration may progress more rapidly while taking zinc. These new studies also indicate a percent of macular degeneration patients will benefit from supplemental zinc! Dr. Michael Lange states ” Doctors that are making nutritional supplement recommendations for patients with macular degeneration should do a simple in office DNA test to see what category these patients fall in and then make sound nutritional supplement recommendations based on the patients genotype.” Michael Lange OD has developed six different levels of supplements for the macular degeneration patients based on age, weight, level of disease and DNA. The newest formula is called Fortifeye Zinc Free Macular Defense and will be available end of October. Dr Lange has 9 locations throughout Florida that are involved in Genetic testing and nutritional counseling for macular degeneration. learn more about DNA directed vitamins for macular degeneration at http://www.fortifeye.com . go to Dr. Langes blog at http://www.drmichaellange.com
Michael Lange OD develops genotype-directed nutritional therapy for macular degeneration
Posted by Dr Michael Lange in Uncategorized on September 30, 2013
Michael Lange OD, CNS has developed genotype-directed nutritional therapy for macular degeneration patients.
Michael Lange OD has been involved in the research and development of nutritional supplements for eye care for nearly 20 years he has followed all of the studies related to nutrition, DNA and Macular degeneration very closely. He has developed an entire line of genotype-directed supplements for macular degeneration under Fortifeye Vitamins name.
Dr. Langes most recent development is a zinc free antioxidant for macular degeneration patients in response to new study recently published. The newest studies suggest that a percentage of macular degeneration patients with specific genotypes may actually be harmed by taking zinc and some may benefit from taking zinc and antioxidants. The only way to determine whether zinc is good or bad is to have a genetic DNA test for macular degeneration. This is a simple in office DNA test that will determine what particular type of DNA a macular degeneration patient has and allow eye care providers to customize their nutritional regiment. Genotype-directed nutritional therapy could result in significantly improved future outcomes for many patients with macular degeneration. DNA testing should become the gold standard to help the eye care provider determine which supplement is best for the patient. Dr. Lange and other nutritional experts agree that no more than 40mg of zinc should be taken daily. Dr. Lange states this will only enhance patient care for the macular degeneration patient. Any doctors recommending nutritional therapies for their patients with ARMD should make an effort to have their DNA checked. This is a procedure covered by their insurance and medicare. Dr. Lange states “we have been seeing really good response to nutritional therapy for macular degeneration patients over the last 20 years now I expect we will see even better results”.
Fortifeye Vitamins has different formulas that can be recommended based on patients age, weight, disease entity and specific DNA. Eye Care providers all over the world are recommending Fortifeye.

For maximum absorption, these vitamins should be taken in three divided doses with food. Fortifeye Zinc Free Macular Defense can be taken alone or in conjunction with Fortifeye Super Omega-3 and/or Fortifeye Focus. Fortifeye Vitamin formulas have helped thousands through out the world to maintain and even regain their independence through better vision and health. Fortifeye Zinc Free Macular Defense gives hope to many through proper nutrition providing support for healthy eyes and total body wellness.

Natural Dry Eye Treatment and Natural Meibomian Gland treatment by Michael Lange OD, CNS
Posted by Dr Michael Lange in Uncategorized on September 28, 2013
Patients are looking for a natural treatment for dry eyes and meibomian gland dysfunction. I have worked with patients for over 20 years in the area of natural dry eye treatment with excellent results. Meibomian gland dysfunction is ultimately the reason the patient is symptomatic! When we clear up the meibomian glands then the lids become less red and swollen and the eyes become less dry. If both optometrists and ophthalmologists would take the time to educate their patients on these natural approaches to treating dry eyes we would have a much happier and healthier group of patients. However with huge cutbacks in medicare and very small reimbursements from HMOs doctors are seeing more patients and spending less time with each patients. The doctor will write a script for a drug and send you out the door. It takes time for the eye doctor to educate the patient on the natural dry eye treatment that is available. I have developed a simple quick 4 step article that will help both doctors and patients understand natural dry eye treatment and natural meibomian gland treatment . learn more at http://www.fortifeye.com

Michael Lange OD talks about Natural Treatment for meibomian gland dysfunction and dry eyes.
Posted by Dr Michael Lange in Uncategorized on September 21, 2013
Michael Lange OD talks about Natural treatment for meibomian gland dysfunction, blepharitis and dry eyes. Most ODs and MDs are prescribing oral and topical antibiotics for meibomian gland dysfunction and blepharitis. Is this really necessary? Oral and even topical antibiotics have potential unwanted side effects especially if used often. I have had tremendous success using a combination of Natural treatments to help eliminate almost all signs and symptoms of meibomian gland dysfunction, blepharitis and dry eyes. Patients appreciate the natural approach to helping them with their condition. If done properly this is extremely effective. Doctors will have to explain to the patients these procedures in some detail to be effective against their meibomian gland dysfunction and dry eyes. If we clear the glands then the glands will secrete a healthy tear film and the dry eyes will go away. All that is needed is a Brueder mask or hot compress of some type, Fortifeye Super Omega, Fortifeye Focus, a good unpreserved artificial tear (oasis tears plus, retaine or Blinks) , hydration, great lid hygiene and proper diet.
